SMAQMD Check Before You Burn Campaign

Prosio Communications works with the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District to implement its annual Check Before You Burn campaign, which runs from November through February. The goal of the campaign is to broaden awareness of the Sacramento County law that prohibits wood burning when wintertime air quality is at its worst. Particulate matter air pollution is hazardous, and many are still unaware of the negative impacts that are associated with exposure to PM2.5 wood smoke pollution. Members of the PC team have worked with the District since the inception of the Check Before You Burn program, and helped launch the first outreach campaign in 2007. Annual outreach activities include advertising, social media, collateral and informational materials, community events, partnership development, media relations and website development.
