Another year, another media tour in the books! The PC team has officially wrapped up another statewide tour, this time promoting the California Office of Traffic Safety’s pedestrian safety campaign, “Be Aware. Be Alert. Pedestrians Don’t Have Armor.”  While the team launched the campaign last year in the greater Sacramento area, the media tour marked the first effort to bring the message statewide.

Since Team PC is certainly no stranger to media tours (Road trip, anyone?), we were anxious to pack our bags and hit the road! Eager to get the pedestrian safety campaign message in front of the right audience, we headed off to seven middle schools in areas where pedestrian-motorist safety is a prominent issue. Our tour kicked off in beautiful Monterey, followed by San Jose, San Diego, Chico, Fresno, Bakersfield and Santa Barbara.

Of course, we couldn’t hit the road without our campaign mascot, Pete Walker, in tow. As the highlight of each stop, Pete Walker proudly assisted hundreds of middle school students with safely crossing the street as they arrived to school in the mornings, or left for the day.  A handful of television cameras and newspapers were also onsite to cover each event. But the best part of the tour? Students, faculty and parents were all quick to show their appreciation for the campaign and the pedestrian safety message. In our eyes, that’s a win!
