The Spare The Air season is well underway, which means we’ve been extra busy with one of our favorite client accounts, the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District. In an effort to promote clean air and educate residents and businesses in the Sacramento region on ways they can protect their health and help improve air quality, we’ve made sure the official Spare The Air mascot, Scooter, has been staying busy doing his part as the campaign’s key “spokesdog”. Check out what we’ve been up to below!
• Microsite: We recently created a Scooter-centric microsite for kids, with educational activities and content to help little ones learn about how they can reduce air pollution and protect their health. You can check it out, here! http://www.aqmdscooter.com/
• Scooter’s Second Saturday: Scooter has officially kicked his “Second Saturday” program into high gear. On the second Saturday of each month, Scooter makes multiple stops throughout the Sacramento region, passing out free swag, educating the public on ways they can Spare The Air and posing for lots and lots of photos!
• SactoMoFo: Scooter has also developed a partnership with SactoMoFo, a food truck organization that hosts events throughout the Sacramento region. Throughout the Spare The Air season, Scooter has become a regular – and quite a favorite – at these events. He can be found hosting a table where attendees can win fun prizes, while also getting educated on ways they can protect themselves from the harmful effects of air pollution.
• A New App: In a continued effort to provide helpful health resources to people in the Sacramento region, the AQMD officially launched its own app. The Sacramento Region Air Quality App is now available for free on mobile devices and can be downloaded in your iOS, Google Play or Windows app stores. Download the app today to stay up-to-date with daily air quality forecasts, and be automatically notified when it is a Spare The Air day or a wildfire smoke advisory is in effect.
Stay tuned for more updates on this fun account, and be sure to keep an eye out for Scooter next time you’re out and about! To learn more about the Spare The Air campaign, visit: http://www.sparetheair.com/.
