“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.” — Michael Jordan
It is crucial to foster the value of teamwork every day through your company’s culture. Here at Prosio Communications, teamwork is essential, as valuing each other’s input while balancing fun and professionalism is the cornerstone to any company’s success.
Our days are filled with client meetings, campaign planning and other various projects. This busy work environment can make it difficult to connect with our fellow team members, so every Thursday, we have a tradition of un-corking a bottle of wine and sharing stories while partaking in a teambuilding activity together. Teambuilding is integral to creating employee comradery, improving internal communications and boosting productivity. Check out some of our favorite teambuilding shenanigans and tips, which will prove a great way for any team to gain positive synergy and exuberate cooperation and success.
Getting out of the office as a team can be a breath of fresh air (literally)! Try an off-site lunch somewhere close by and, if you can, walk there. This “field trip” will combine lunch and some light exercise, leaving your staff feeling replenished and happier.
We may all be grown up, but we all still need to goof off sometimes. Games are a great way to break the ice and work together in a laidback environment. Try a board game such as Apples to Apples or Catch Phrase, and don’t forget that games are always better when accompanied by fun food and tasty drinks.
This is one of my favorites and is always a ton of fun. You can search online for great scavenger hunt ideas or just make one up within the proximity of your office. Make sure everyone in your office gets some sort of prize– use gift cards or even make coupons for work “perks,” such as a free paid hour of work or an extended lunch hour. Regardless of the prize, everyone will feel like a winner when they realize, “Hey I just had fun at work.”
Whether it is a “hot and spicy,” wine pairing or a garlic theme, potlucks are a great and delicious teambuilding activity. Announce the potluck theme a week ahead of time—it will give your team members time to plan their dishes and also give them something to look forward to!
