Last weekend, our team had the awesome opportunity to bring a little taste of Hollywood to Downtown Sacramento. If you were out and about around the 20th block of K Street on Friday and Saturday evenings, you may have noticed all the commotion — the red carpet, the spotlights, and the sign on the sidewalk that invited designated sober drivers and friends to experience the red carpet treatment as a reward for planning ahead and being responsible. The red carpet events, which also took place simultaneously in San Francisco and San Diego, served to kick off the California Office of Traffic Safety’s annual anti-DUI Crackdown and new DDVIP campaign aimed at rewarding designated sober drivers and making them feel like VIPs. The DDVIP campaign complements OTS’ widely popular “RUOK?” campaign which emphasizes the message that if you’re feeling even slightly “buzzed”, you’re most likely not okay to drive.
The DDVIP campaign consists of an expansive network of bar and restaurant partners throughout the state, all of which are Official DDVIP establishments and offer designated sober drivers free non-alcoholic drinks (we call them DDrinks), or other discounted offers on drinks or appetizers. These establishments are supported by a newly unveiled, free, mobile “DDVIP Bar-Finder” wapp for smart phones which patrons can download and use to access the DDVIP bars nearest them.

Our DDVIP teams will be out in full force hosting additional events on Fridays and Saturdays for the rest of December, from 8pm until 12am at 2031 K Street, in Sacramento.
