One night five years ago, over a glass of wine (or two), I told Kari and Alma that I would be leaving my job the next day. I wasn’t really sure what I was going to do, but I knew that what I was doing wasn’t working for me, or my family, anymore.  So on June 26, 2013, I pulled my team of 18 into the conference room of my old company, and I told them I would be leaving, that day, after nine years of leading them. Tears were shed, alcohol was consumed, and hugs were given – and then I left, out to start my new adventure – without much of a plan, but with an awful lot of gumption. It was a little scary start to my entrepreneurial journey that way, but little did I know how great things would become, or how quickly.

Just two short months later, as Prosio Communications’ first employees, Kari and Alma were back by my side and we were back to working together on a client we’ve grown so proud of over the years – the California Office of Traffic Safety. Soon after that, we were awarded a new contract with the Sacramento Metropolitan Air Quality Management District, another long-time favorite of ours, and before we knew it, we were busy building a new team, and moving into a new office to accommodate our amazing growth.

Now, five years  later, Prosio Communications has grown to be one of the top public relations and marketing firms and fastest growing businesses in the Sacramento region. We have some amazing clients, work on some incredible projects, and have made a lot of fabulous relationships along the way. Our skills and capabilities have grown, as has our team (we’re now at 15) and I’m so proud of the work we do, and all that we’ve accomplished to get here. Every day I wake up, and I can’t wait to see what the day has in store for me, and my team. I’m so lucky to have two families – one at home, and one at the office.

As an anniversary gift, my team made me this video for me. I’ve watched it several times, and continue to be so humbled by all of the kind words and love shown in it. For this post, I thought it only fair to provide a quote, too – and I think this one says it best for me:

“Great things in business are never done by one person. They’re done by a team of people.” – Steve Jobs

Thank you to everyone who has helped contribute to the success of Prosio Communications over the last five years. You know who you are, and we’re thankful for every one of you. Here’s to many more years of success together. Cheers!
